I'm a baby boomer who just passed the PMP exam on the first try. This was one of three books I purchased from Amazon to help me prepare and I consider it more or less indispensable. The Fast Forward MBA in Project Management (Portable Mba Series) was not only a great aid to my test preparation, but will also be a good general project management resource going forward. The authors have an associated web site where they make available various project management forms templates (none of the other books had this).I highly recommend this book.
This book starts off by giving you the reasons that project management (PM)came into existence and why it's so important today.It quickly then goes into the meat of the matter from the Project evaluation all the way to the project close. The book goes into just enough detail for those thinking of taking up PM for the first time. The prose is smooth and the explanations lucid. In fact its a great book to carry on site as the chapters can be read within one hour at m ost and will quickly bring you up to speed on what may have left your memory since the first reading.Check out the contents in the look inside feature of amazon to find out what is covered as i will not bother to be redundant here.Additionally I really appreciate the downloadable forms which can be customized to suit your needs.In conclusion if you are new to PM get it you won't regret it.

Does it need to take an exam with such a book in your pocket (if you have a big enough one).I found it particularly well structured and full of useful information.I like it very much and will use it for a while, I am sure of it.
As a manager of Project Managers, I look for ways to keep my team informed and using best practices. I also like that you can just read a chapter or a few pages to refresh yourself on a concept. This book is well organized, has practical examples and easy to follow. I have been giving everyone who joins my group receives a copy for the past 10 years. It isn't a book that you have to start at the beginning in order to get to the point you are after. I own both the first edition and this improved version and am impressed with the expanded content.
